A New Way to Explore the Mountain...
On a Segway® ...
SegRides compete with hikers on the woodland trails surrounding the Resort.
The Segways will be used on a 1.5-hour outing incorporating a training session with a guided tour using the Resort¹s nordic ski trails. The outing will uniquely combine the high tech Segway with learning about and enjoying the nature and environment en route. SegRides are available Tuesday though Thursday at 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm and 5 pm throughout the summer. The cost is $65 per person.
The Segway does all the balancing work on just two wheels. Once a rider steps onto the standing platform, the Segway balances itself with a complicated system of internal gyroscopes. The rider¹s job is easy: he or she leans forward to move forward, leans back to reverse, and twists a portion of the left steering handle to turn.
In keeping with Smugglers¹ commitment to good environmental stewardship, the Segways, which operate on rechargeable battery packs, produce no emissions, are easy on the trails, and operate quietly. They can travel at speeds of up to 12 miles an hour and weigh approximately 100 pounds or less.
These SegRides will be a big hit with our guests.
For a change the adults and older kids will get first chance on the fun, because riders have to weigh between 100 and 260 pounds for the gyros to work." Those under age 12 will have to be content with the Resort¹s four waterslides, eight pools, day camps, skatepark, mountain boarding, paddling adventures, and all day kids camps.
