Whistler Arts Council presents the 5th annual ArtWalk from July 1 to August 31, featuring Sea-to-Sky Corridor artists in host galleries throughout Whistler Village. The event aims to connect over 50 artists and artisans with local and visiting art lovers, as well as create a relationship between art, tourism and business. ArtWalk is a free exhibition of various mediums of artwork in non-traditional gallery spaces. Artists from Lions Bay to Lillooet showcase painting, photography, glass, ceramics and jewellery in approximately 30 participating cafes, retail stores, hotels, commercial galleries, restaurants and businesses in Whistler Village.
New in ArtWalk 2008, two opening receptions will be held by focusing on two different areas of the Village and their respective host galleries. One reception will take place on July 4 and the other on August 1. This change was made to encourage the visitation of all ArtWalk venues during the receptions by as many participants as possible. The opening reception has always been a party not to be missed as they are open to all and free to the public. This is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to wander the Village, from reception to reception, hobnobbing with artists and performers that live and work in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor.
