Learn Andean style back strap weaving with local Taos weaving instructor Kimberly Hamill. The simplest tools - straight sticks and string - are all you need to execute elegant tapestries.
This three day course explores the fascinating and versatile uses for the back strap loom. The back strap loom is simple in design, consisting of some straight sticks, rope and a strap behind the weavers back. The back strap is used today by weavers all over the world to create exquisite tapestries. Each member of the workshop will learn to warp a back strap, plan a project and execute a weaving.This course is designed for absolute beginners to novice weavers.
