The Sunshine City
Kelowna, called the "Sunshine City," is located on the shores of Okanagan Lake. Here, more than 100 years ago, the Interior Salish Native people first spoke with fear of the "devil of the lake" they named N'ha-a-itk. Now known as Ogopogo, this mysterious monster is no longer feared, but thought of with amusement.
Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley is known as the Fruit and Wine capital of Canada, so take advantage of the abundant orchards and wineries that surround Kelowna. Many orchards and vineyards offer guided tours that include fresh samples of Kelowna's delicious produce. Don't miss a chance to taste BC's famed cherries or peaches picked right off the tree!
This city, tucked into a spectacular setting, has a wonderful mix of cultural and recreational activities.
