Summit County, besides being the host to many popular ski resorts, also is a popular summer playground. The towns of Breckenridge, Keystone, Dillon, Frisco, Copper Mountain, and Silverthorne all offer a wonderful mix of recreational and cultural activities. It was forced to relocated yet again when Dillon Reservoir was built in the 1960s. Dillon Reservoir offers a variety of outdoor summer activities in the towns of Dillon and Frisco. Frisco, located in the shadow of Mt. Royal, started in the 1870s. Its historic park offers visitors a look at Colorado's past. The 1881 jail, log chapel, homes and schoolhouse provide a taste of yesteryear. Unique boutiques, shops and restaurants add to the town's special atmosphere on the shores of Lake Dillon. Encircled by Arapaho National Forest, recreational activities are just outside your door. Fly-fishing, hiking, rafting, four wheeling, and camping are just minutes away. Mountain bikers and in-line skaters will delight over the 55miles of paved path from Vail to Breckenridge, and this is just one of the many trails in the region. Copper Mountain Copper Mountain Resort, located in the Ten Mile and Gore Wilderness ranges, is only 75 miles from Denver. It offers a combination of outdoor activities and modern creature comforts. The area lends itself easily to hiking, mountain biking and fishing, with access right off of Interstate 70. The majestic mountains are the perfect setting for any activity. With more than 40,000 square feet of meeting space available, Copper Mountain is hailed as premier conference center.
