Steamboat Springs
Colorado
The Perfect Summer Destination
Steamboat Springs, founded in 1885, is located in the Yampa Valley, adjacent to Routt National Forest. Sunny days and cool evenings make this the perfect summer destination. The area is a breathtaking mix of alpine meadows, river valleys and trout filled lakes.
And with 300 stocked lakes and 900 miles of streams, this region offers fishing enthusiasts ample locations to find just the right catch. Some of these waters also lend themselves to kayaking and white-water rafting.
Trails and More
Mountain bikers can choose from many paved routes or go off-road on the numerous trails available. Gondola rides provide bikers yet another option. They can take their bikes to the top and ride trails down to the bottom of the mountain.
Visitors can camp in Routt National Forest as well as several state parks and recreation areas nearby, many of which also offer hiking, boating, fishing and hunting. On the many backcountry trails, hikers can go for one day or several.
Don't forget to spend some time in the hot mineral pools at the Steamboat Springs Health and Recreation Center. It offers three hot mineral springs, an Olympic pool and a waterslide.
And the Sheraton Steamboat Golf Club has a 6,906-yardchampionship course allowing golfers to enjoy quality play in a setting of unspoiled beauty.
Entertainment
A variety of concerts and festivals make the area a popular spot for all ages. The Hot Air Balloon Rodeo and Vintage Auto Race are only a couple of the many events happening throughout the summer season.
The many unique boutiques, galleries and restaurants make this town complete, offering something for everyone.
