Two Hundred Lakes

Mesa, located about 30 miles east of Grand Junction on the Grand Mesa Scenic and Historic Byway, is a great year-round recreational playground.

On top of Grand Mesa are some 200 lakes scattered among the pine forests. These lakes are said to have some of the best fishing in the West. The area is popular for hiking, camping and sightseeing as well.

Great Trails

This region is perfect for mountain biking. The desert and mountain terrain attracts bikers from throughout the West. Several long-distance trails exist, including the 142-mile Kokopelli's Trail from Grand Junction to Moab, Utah, and Tabeguache Trail from Montrose to Grand Junction.

Nearby, experience some the wildest river rafting in the state on the Colorado, Green and Yampa rivers. This is an excellent way to see wildlife, enjoy the scenery and get a taste of the river.

Several golf courses in the area provide golfers with a variety of choices. The lush green courses are a beautiful contrast against the rising rock plateaus.

Fun in Town

An assortment of unique shops and boutiques in Grand Junction offer visitors hours of shopping enjoyment. Local artists, craftsmen and photographers display their works in the many galleries.

When it's time to eat, the dining choices are almost endless. More than 100 restaurants have whatever you might desire, ranging from oysters to french fries.
