Summer Mountain Resort Overview for Post Falls in Idaho

Post Falls
Idaho
Spectacular Scenery

Post Falls, sometimes called "River City," is just west of Coeur d'Alene. The town was founded in the late 1800s by Frederick Post. He used the force of the falls to generate power for his sawmill.

Hikers and mountain bikers have a variety of trails to choose from. Post Falls is on the Taft/Old Milwaukee Railroad Grade Ride, a 1,000-mile trail system.

There are also trails to the Post Falls and gorge, and Treaty Rock. Another system of trails runs along the south bank of the Spokane River. The Q'Emiln Trail System connects 12 routes. Trails lead to historic sites, such as abandoned homesteads and mining camps. The Centennial Trail runs along the Spokane River. This route is great for in-line skating.

Chairlift rides take visitors up the mountain for some spectacular sightseeing. The area is popular for fishing as well.
