The Best of All Worlds
Bridgton is located in Maine's Western Lakes and Mountains region. This beautifully wooded area offers the best of all worlds. A variety of activities is available in this spectacular setting, including hiking, mountain biking, fishing, swimming, boating and golf.
Several bodies of water are nearby, including Long and Thompson lakes and Sebago Lake, the second largest lake in the state. Sebago Lake State Park, just south of Bridgton has 1,300 acres of lakefront. Fish for trout and landlocked salmon, or go boating on Sebago Lake and Sango Lock, the 42-mile waterway that connects it with Long Lake.
The Bridgton Historical Society Museum gives visitors a look into the area's past. Relics and documents about the Bridgton and Saco River Railroad (1883 to 1941) are on display along with a1l 911 Sears automobile.
Summer brings with it not only warm weather, but a variety of events as well. Pondicherry Days and the Heritage Festival at Narramissic Spinners and Weavers Show are a sampling of the happenings in the area.
