Summer Mountain Resort Lodging for Jackson in New Hampshire

Jackson
New Hampshire
Jackson
Surrounded by the White Mountains

Jackson, located just off State Highway 16, is surrounded by the peaks of the White Mountains. In fact, two-thirds of Jackson is part of the White Mountain National Forest. This mountain mystique has been drawing visitors to the area for almost two centuries.

Its natural beauty, combined with the New England charm of covered bridges and white-steepled churches, provides the perfect setting for most any endeavor.

The area easily lends itself to a variety of recreational activities, including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, swimming, rafting and golf.

Golfers can try their luck at the Wentworth Golf Club. This 18-hole course is the focus of Jackson Village and even includes a covered bridge of its own. These greens and fairways are designed to challenge golfers of all skill levels.

Fishing for rainbow and brook trout on the Ellis River is a good way to pass the time. The river is well stocked, and the stretch from the Jackson covered bridge to the iron bridge in Glen is designated for fly-fishing only.

Wildcat Brook is another waterway worth checking out. It is a federally designated Wild and Scenic River. The brook is well stocked with trout and its flow creates beautiful Jackson Falls.

Fun for All

Nestlenook Farm, a 65-acre Victorian estate, is only a short drive away. The estate offers a variety of activities and exhibits in a beautiful and relaxing setting, including trout fishing, horse drawn carriage rides, award-winning flower gardens and hand feeding the reindeer in the Emerald Forest.

A number of events fill the summer months here, including the Annual Ride to Raise the Roof at Great Glen Trails. The family event consists of mountain bike racing, barbecues and live music.

If you want to get some more exercise while you're here, take part in the Jackson 10K Covered Bridge Foot Race in June. Another exciting attraction is the Black N' Blues Country concert. Several Bands, dancing and a cookout offer something for all ages.
