Lakeview
Oregon
One of the Highest Towns in Oregon
Lakeview, established in 1876, sits at the foot of the Warner Mountains. Here on the edge of the southeastern Oregon high desert, Lakeview is one of the highest towns in the state. Originally a cattle town serving ranchers, it is now the business center for the region.
Its prime location makes Lakeview a great destination for recreational enthusiasts. Both in town and nearby in Fremont National Forest, a variety of activities can be found. The mix of desert and mountain terrain offers countless opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, rock hunting, hang gliding, golfing and fishing.
The Lakeview Nature Trail gives visitors a chance to get a good look at the area's native plants and wildlife. Another favorite attraction is Old Perpetual Geyser, which is just north of town.
Several events light up Lakeview's summer months. The Lakeview County Fair and Round-Up is said to be one of the Northwest's oldest amateur rodeos.
