The Perfect Weather - Spring, Summer and Fall

Logan is located in Utah's Bridgerland region, which encompasses Cache and Rich counties. The area was settled in the mid-1800s and many historic homes and buildings still remain.

East on Highway 89, visitors will find the Logan Canyon Scenic Byway. This picturesque 40-mile route winds through Bear Lake and Garden City. Travel beside rivers and under cliffs and umbrella-like trees. Along the way there are numerous opportunities for camping, hiking, bicycling, picnicking and fishing at Second Dam and Logan River.

Many other trails exist in the region as well, and the area boasts perfect weather for outdoor pursuits spring, summer and fall. Horseback riding also is a popular pastime on these plentiful trails.

Caribbean of the Rockies

Bear Lake, known as the "Caribbean of the Rockies," is a great destination for fishing and water sports. Its turquoise-colored waters and white sand beaches present an unforgettable sight. Sailing, boating, water-skiing, scuba diving and sail boarding can all be found on this beautiful 20-mile long, eight-mile wide body of water. And with depths reaching 208 feet, it's no surprise that Bear Lake is known for its trophy cutthroat trout.

Rock climbing and caving are found here as well. Logan Canyon has sheer rock faces that promise to challenge climbers. Some of the most frequented spots include China Wall, Fucoidal Quartzite and Second Practice Wall.

Logan Canyon also is home to Logan and Wind caves, perfect for exploring. West of Bear Lake, spelunkers will find Minnetonka Cave in the St. Charles Canyon.

Golfers will find this area has not only the perfect weather for golfing, but the perfect setting as well. The many challenging courses offer a variety to please golfers of all abilities. Courses include Logan Golf and County Club, Logan River Golf Course, Bear Lake Golf and Sherwood Hills.

Area Attractions

Along with outdoor recreation, several other area attractions draw visitors to Logan. The Willow Park Zoo has more than 600 animals, including bear, monkeys, bald eagles and elk.

Jensen Historical Farms, six miles southwest of Logan, is a living history museum. Graduate students at Utah State University run the farm just as it would have been run in 1917. Tours are available and several events take place, such as sheep shearing and quilting demonstrations.

The summer is filled with exciting events. Rodeos take place throughout the season. The Festival of the American West, Utah Festival Opera Company, and the Best Dam MS 150 Bike Tour are just a sampling of what Logan has to offer summertime visitors.

Several galleries and museums, including the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum and Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, provide a look at the area's history and culture.
