Near Umatilla National Forest
Dayton is located just north of the Touchet River and only 30 miles from Walla Walla. This southeastern Washington town claims to have the oldest courthouse and railroad depot in the state. The depot, built by Oregon Railroad and Navigation Co. in 1881, was used by the railroad for 93 years. It has now been restored and furnished with railroad memorabilia.
The Umatilla National Forest is just east of town and offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including hiking, camping, mountain biking and horseback riding.
