Skykomish is located on the Skykomish River, about an hour east of Seattle, in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
The area provides ample opportunities for camping, fishing, hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking. A wide range of trails exists for both hiking and mountain biking. Whether you're looking to enjoy a short family hike or be challenged by a strenuous trek, you won't be disappointed. Mountain bikers will find countless trails as well, including former logging roads that crisscross their way through the countryside.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking also are popular activities in this beautiful area of the North Cascades. Check out the Boulder Drop on the Skykomish River for some class V rapids. Don't worry, if you're not quite that adventurous there are plenty of stretches where you can relax and enjoy a scenic float trip.
These picturesque mountains, carved by glaciers, are sometimes referred to as the "American Alps." Reaching as high as the 10,541-foot Glacier Peak, this spectacular range has an unmatched scenic beauty. Countless flowing streams and wildflower-laced meadows are home to a variety of wildlife.
